Get ready for a thrilling revelation! The Fantastic Four: First Steps has unveiled some incredible concept art, and it's all about an iconic character with a golden twist. But here's where it gets controversial...
When Marvel Studios announced a female Silver Surfer, fans were divided. The anticipation for a true-to-comic portrayal of Galactus and Norrin Radd was high. However, after watching the movie, it seems the classic Surfer will make an appearance in the post-Avengers: Secret Wars MCU. Julia Garner's Shalla-Bal left a lasting impression, and her action scenes were nothing short of spectacular.
Thanks to The Artbook Collector, we get a glimpse of the 'Golden Surfer.' Concept Illustrator Jana Schirmer explored the idea that the Surfer's energy abilities might transform her appearance. Schirmer explains, "I considered the possibility of oxidation, like how exhaust pipes change color due to heat. It's a cool visual effect."
Schirmer also experimented with various hairstyles for this 'Gold Surfer' and depicted her flying with an energy trail, drawing inspiration from Frankie Raye, a.k.a. Nova, a subsequent herald of Galactus in Marvel Comics. Frankie, Johnny Storm's girlfriend, gained similar powers after an encounter with chemicals. She later became Galactus' herald and fell in love with the Silver Surfer.
A fusion of Shalla-Bal and Nova might have been more well-received, but most fans seem content with the Silver Surfer's portrayal in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The future of these characters remains uncertain.
