The Shard Quarter's iconic skyline is now complete with the unveiling of Shard Place, a stunning addition to London's architectural landscape. But this isn't just any building; it's the grand finale of a trilogy by the renowned Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW).
The RPBW Trilogy Unveiled:
Following the towering success of The Shard and The News Building, Shard Place stands tall at 27 stories, adding a new dimension to the city's luxury rental market. This glass masterpiece, completed earlier this year, is the final piece in the 2.5 million square feet mixed-use puzzle that is the Shard Quarter.
A Journey Back to 2009:
RPBW's involvement began with the iconic Shard skyscraper, which pierced the London sky in 2009. Now, over a decade later, the trilogy is complete with Shard Place, located in the bustling London Bridge neighborhood.
Architectural Design and Features:
Shard Place boasts a unique design with a main rectangular structure soaring 100 meters into the sky. A shorter volume attached to the south side creates a visually striking contrast. Elevated on pillars, the building offers a spacious 13,000 square feet of public space below.
Inside, residents are treated to 176 furnished apartments, each a masterpiece in itself. From studios to three-bedroom units, the apartments showcase four distinct design palettes. The Bermondsey Light collection exudes elegance with off-white walls and white lacquered furniture, while the Borough Dark palette makes a bold statement with black oak furniture and gold accents.
Unparalleled Views and Amenities:
But here's where it gets exciting! Some apartments offer double or triple aspect views, providing breathtaking panoramas of the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows and naturally ventilated winter gardens further enhance the living experience. And let's not forget the crown jewel—London's highest outdoor rooftop swimming pool, offering a unique perspective of the city's skyline.
Artistic Touches and Collaborations:
The building isn't just about architecture; it's an art lover's dream. Richeldis Fine Art curated over 1,000 artworks, adorning the apartments and common areas with original pieces by Lawrence Calver, Carla Cascales, and ceramics by Rhian Jones. The resident's lobby features a lighting sculpture by Haberdashery, inspired by the soundwaves of London Bridge's bustling rush hour.
Meeting London's Housing Demands:
According to the development team, Shard Place answers the call for high-end rentals in the London Bridge area, a vibrant neighborhood with world-class gastronomy, culture, and transport links. George Hankinson, head of residential at Real Estate Management (UK) Limited, praises Shard Place as a 'best-in-class rental destination' in the heart of London
