The committee's priority will be to address the immediate water supply risks affecting the town. The immediate interventions include installing a new pump at Akkerkloof Dam, deploying five plumbing teams to fix leaks, and repairing the water purification plant. The town is currently implementing Level 4 water restrictions, and the government is urging all residents and visitors to strictly adhere to these measures. But this is the part most people miss: the underlying infrastructure and management issues that contributed to the current situation will also be addressed. Once the immediate crisis has been stabilised, attention can then shift to resolving these issues.
