Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. sets ambitious 50-50 goal ahead of contract year, aiming for history
SARASOTA, Fla. — After securing a 30-30 season last September, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is already dreaming big, aiming for a 50-50 season, a feat only achieved once in baseball history by Shohei Ohtani.
Chisholm's bold aspirations are a testament to his relentless drive and positive mindset. In his spring debut, he emphasized his commitment to setting high goals, stating, 'I’m not going to say nothing that I don’t think I can do.'
The Yankees star's confidence is infectious, as he believes in the power of positive thinking. He added, 'I’m always going to speak positive into the atmosphere. I’m never going to tell myself or tell anybody that, ‘Oh, I’m just going to have a year where I hit 10 home runs and hit .250.’'
Chisholm's ambition extends beyond personal achievement. He's driven by a deep sense of purpose, honoring the memory of his best friend, who tragically passed away last year. 'That’s what I’m really playing this year for is my best friend, that he is not going to get to see me go into free agency,' he said.
As Chisholm enters his final year under club control, he embraces the pressure, viewing it as a catalyst for his best performance. 'I think that brings out the best in me,' he stated, 'The contract year is even better for me. I like pressure. I like going out there and having to play for something.'
Chisholm's journey is a rollercoaster, fueled by his passion for the game and his desire to make a lasting impact. He concluded, 'At the end of the day, when you’re going out there and doing all that, how can you not get pumped up and excited and enjoy the ride? It’s just like a roller coaster. If you don’t enjoy the ride, it’s going to suck. But when you enjoy the ride, it’s one of the best rides of your life.'
